Lazy Drip Marble Tutorial

Welp, this project took me three whole days to complete due to fatigue issues. For the average person it should actually take about a half day or whole day. There’s a bit of waiting time, but if you have the patience this is a really cool design and 100% worth it in the end.

To start off you need:
Cuticle pusher or orange stick
Polish; 2 or more (obvious, but worth mentioning)
Acetone (or remover, it’ll just take a bit longer for clean up)
A yogurt lid or similar surface/Silicone mat
Top coat
Base coat
Cleanup Brush
Pen or other poking item (for bubbles)

Okay, so. This is what you do. Pick a few colors you think would look nice together. Start off by making 2 to 3 rows of 3 of 4 drops of polish, almost touching. Continue to drop each color on top of the last drops you made. When you’re done start rotating the lid/surface. Continue to move the lid around until you have a pattern you like or until the polish starts to dry and is no longer mobile. Pop any bubble that have come to the surface.

Now, wait. I left mine overnight and then put them into a plastic bag to try to ensure it didn’t over dry. You want the polish decal to be dry, but still flexible. If you wait too long it will start to get crispy around the edges. When I originally tried to move them it had been about 2-3 hours and though 2 of them were dry, I ruined part of one that was a little too thick that it hadn’t dried. Personally, I’d wait overnight or about 8 hours the next time I try this. That way they’ll be dry, but fresh enough that they aren’t flaking.

PS These are the colors I used. Zoya Saint, China Glaze Let’s Jam, China Glaze Eat, Pink, Be Merry, OPI Chiffon My Mind, and Orly Pretty Ugly.

Once the decals are all dry find the bits you like and cut them out to scale for each of your nails. Make sure to leave a bit of room around the edges. When you have those all situated you can move on to your foundation polish. If you want you can use base coat prior to this step, then move on to either clear nail polish or something like white to help the colors pop if they’re a bit sheer. I meant to use OPI Alpine Snow, but as I do, I misplaced it somewhere in this process because… typical. Instead, I used OPI I Cannoli Use OPI and it worked fine.

I painted the nail and then placed the decal onto the nail, ensuring that it was flat across the nail bed and adhered well. Use a gentle touch to ensure that you don’t smoosh the wet polish under the decal around too much. Using my thumbnail I gently left indents into where I planned to remove the excess polish. Then I moved onto the next finger and repeated the process.

Once all the nails were done they were still a bit wet so it was easy to go around the edges and use my thumbnail and an orange stick to separate the unwanted polish at the edges of the nail. Be very careful at this stage and try not to pull off the excess if it still appears to be connected. If the polish is still wet it can pull the decal off or rip it.

Use nail polish remover or acetone to clean up around the edges and add top coat.

Ya done. Give yourself a big ol’ back pat. Sorry if this isn’t very cohesive, I’m exhausted. It’s taken me longer than I would have liked to get this up, but here it is. Apologies for any grammatical or spelling errors, as I said, I’m not functioning on high today… Or ever for that matter if you want me to be truthful.

Be well, children. Big love. I’m going to night nap. 3rd nap of the day is the most nutritious!

Untried Nail Polish No.16 FINISHED!!

I DID IT!!! I completed a whole thing! This challenge was invented by Justaddpolish.com so I’d like to thank them for giving me something to do with my time. Thanks for making me feel moderately accomplished and for giving me a way to breathe life back into an old blog.

My fings are a bit ouchy so this post is probably going to be a bit short. Today I’m going to show you a polish that was a gift… Although, almost all of my polishes were gifts so I chose a real pretty one to share.

This is China Glaze Cabin Fever. Cabin Fever is a flaming red-orange with a great green and gold shift. This is now one of my all time favorite duochromes/multichromes.

I tried to get a bunch of different shots to show just how much this polish has to offer. It is truly gorgeous. The formula was a bit thin for my preference and I would pick up a lot more polish than I intended to which led to a mad dash to try to keep it from pooling into the sides. The photos show two coats, the coats on the pointer and middle fingers being a bit thicker than on the rest. It seemed to work out just fine though and I’m happy with the results. 10348% Recommend this polish.

Is there anything you’d like to see from this blog? Feel free to let me know! Thanks for sticking with me through this challenge. It’s been fun!

See ya soon!

Untried Polish Challenge No. 7

Now let’s jump right into it, shall we?! Today we have #7 of this polish challenge, which is ‘oldest’. I pulled out a few I thought might be the oldest, picked one that wasn’t the oldest, and then found out that some of the other polishes in my stash were even older. This is a huge fail on my part. Evey the polish I chose leaves something to be desired.

For this manicure, I chose China Glaze’s Infra-Red that came out in their 2013 Spring/Summer Hologram Collection. Holo is HUGE these days thanks to people like our Goddess, SimplyNailogical. This collection, from what I’ve read, wasn’t the best. I think if you’re looking for a more subdued holo in your polish these would be great for you.

I believe I did three coats for this one. Why it’s not in my notes, I do not know. It REQUIRES a ridge filling base coat. A top coat is also a must if you don’t want it to be semi-matte as all of these types of polishes dry matte-ish.

Infra-Red is a solid red that leans a scotche fuschia and has a subtle linear holo.

Don’t act like scotche isn’t a word. For you peasants that don’t know this word, it’s pronounced like scotch, but the o is pronounced as o. Some may say it’s a hard o, I’d say you don’t know it’s life and have no room to judge.

Apart from my pinky finger (which I bumped while the top coat was still wet), you can actually see all the little imperfections where the polish streaked over itself.

When it comes down to it, I really like this polish in the light. Unfortunately, it’s kind of hard to work with, it’s thin, it LOVES ridges, etc etc. I really wanted to like it, but it was as lackluster as I was promised. I’ll probably refrain from picking up any of the other ones in this collection from my wishlist.

Welp, that’s all I got for this one. Next time we have ‘Newest’. I chose to go with new as in came out more recently since I got a lot of these polishes at the same time and don’t have any truly old polishes in my collection that I’ve never used.

Beat it Chump,

Dupes?! China Glaze Snow Way vs OPI Oh My Majesty

It goes China Glaze Snow Way then OPI Oh My Majesty then CG then OPI. I can tell the difference, my fiance couldn’t. The CG has a bit more of a gray tone. The OPI is a bit brighter and whiter. The gold shimmer in the OPI seems to pop a little bit more. These are not dupes in my opinion. I expect dupes to be exact duplicates because the smallest differences can make the product look completely different on someone else.

These pictures were infuriatingly difficult to capture for some reason. I had to redo the shoot because almost all of them were very slightly blurry.

When it comes down to it, do you need both? I’d say yes, but as I’ve said before, I’m a glutton. Deep down inside, I know that you don’t need both of these polishes. They are ridiculously similar and a little bit difficult to tell apart when on the nail.

So it comes down to which you like better. The CG dried a bit quicker, I accidently dented the OPI even though I thought it was ready to go. The formulas are a little different, but similar. The OPI has a thicker formula in comparison to the CG polish and I could see you running into Streaky Trouble-Town if you play with it too much. In the light, you can see that the gold shimmer in this one pops a bit more. The CG is a bit thinner and was a bit runny, but easy to control. They both level out really nicely, but I think if you weren’t careful about your strokes or played with the polishes too long they could possibly become streaky or ridged.

I haven’t been feeling great, but luckily have a bunch of the nail polish challenge posts backlogged and ready to post. Hopefully, there is joy to be had in extra posts. If not, I’m sorry. You should go find some joy because I say so, that’s why. If I disappear for a bit it’s because I got a new game and have turned into a vidiot for the unseen future and have forgotten about my nails. Don’t worry, it won’t last long because I have a bunch of glitter and other fun stuff on the way to make my own polishes.

Have a great rest of your weekend!!

PS- Ignore any typos, I am running on zero fuel and my brain is borked. I’m in hella smard territory and haven’t been sleeping the best.

PPS – Borked is a word!? What. It’s definitely my word and I’m going to sue the dictionary.

past tense: borked; past participle: borked; past tense: Borked; past participle: Borked
  1. obstruct (someone, especially a candidate for public office) through systematic defamation or vilification.
““We’re going to bork him,” said an opponent”

Sephora and Ulta Friends and Family Sale Hauls

I grabbed a few things from Sephora during the 20% off friends and family sale for myself and my fiance. We got some Bumble and Bumble Sumo Tech since our haircuts are actually pretty similar… which is slightly awkward when people tell you your SO looks similar to your brother. Lannister approved! Gross… He grabbed some man perfume. Which reminds me that I REALLY need some of the Versace Eros for myself. We fought over a sample, but ended up agreeing that it was more of a “Jenn” smell. It smells got damn amazing and for some reason i gravitate towards cologne than perfume. Whatever, fuck gender roles, etc. Feminism. Misandry!! Wait, what is happening.

Ok, so I grabbed myself the Bite crayon thingies and Kat Von D’s eyeliner gift set. Then from Ulta I grabbed my favorite foundation the Covergirl Aquasmooth, a China Glaze nail set, some mini highlighter creams from Becca, NYX retractable lipliner in natural, and Maybelline Touch of Taupe because trends…. But honestly, it would have been my thing regardless of Kylie Jenner existing and lip crazes being a thing. I may be a bit of a makeup/fashion hipster because I’ve never left the 90’s and don’t plan on leaving either. The Brody Dalle makeup look with an oversized men’s flannel material flannel (it’s sad that I have to specify) and I am set for life. Don’t worry, I hate me too and will go hop off my high horse. Although, I did ride horses before it was cool too. So there’s that. Here’s proof.

My bad, I just went ham. First picture was the horse I had prior to getting too sick to ride/care for le pone. He was my soul mate. Just an amazingly sweet animal and ironically he was an off the track thoroughbred named Lifes Rough. Which was fitting for both of us and he helped me become a better person. Wow, so this went in a totally different direction than originally planned, but this is how ADD I am in real life so I feel like leaving it in is a good show of my personality… or something. Product reviews coming soon!!!

China Glaze: Define Good

China Glaze Define Good is a gorgeous dark metallic red. Unfortunately my nail painting skills leave something to be desired due to a mixture of spastisity and tremors, but this polish is giving me so much life. There really isn’t much to say about nail polish… Painting my right hand was ridiculously hard and I just slathered the tips of my fingers in red and hoped for the best. One coat was enough, but I did 2 to even out all the user error related issues. Here’s a picture of it’s butt. I originally took 7 blurry pictures of the polish bottle upside down. I’m really highly intelligent.

So, ah, that’s all I got on this one. It is very pretty and I like it a lot. Painting my nails gives me something to do while in bed and makes me feel like I’m actually taking care of myself even though I haven’t bathed in like 3 weeks. May have dad pits, but at least my talons look fly af.

PS: These are the nails of a chronic nail biter. Looks like I have defeated my chronic masticating issues! I blame the fact that my jaw is generally sore from daily dislocations. Whatever works! Amiright? Duh. Always. Stfu.
